Rugby League State of Origin - Third Game

The State of Origin competition - running since 1980 - sees the best rugby league players from New South Wales (the Blues) and Queensland (the Maroons) facing each other in three games every year. After the third game's visit to Australia's sporting capital, Melbourne, in 2006 (after it had held the Commonwealth Games), in 2007 it's back to the regular pattern of alternating between Brisbane Suncorp Stadium (this year's venue) and Sydney's Telstra Stadium.
After three years of New South Wales being dominant, 2006 saw two victories to Queensland, so a series win, harking back to the event's first five years which saw a clean series sweep for Queensland. Even though New South Wales's winning streak in 2003, 2004 and 2005 has ended, the overall team standing is incredibly close, with Queensland just leading New South Wales by 13 series wins to 12 and two draws. By games Queensland are just pulling ahead: 38 games to NSW's 36 with the two draws. So everything is still to play for!
