ITINERARY

Hutongs are associated with Beijing¡'s oldest residential. They are the charming alleyways and old Walled courtyard homes dating from Qing and Ming dynasties. The narrow streets invite visits by rickshaw transport. Hutong dwellers believe close neighbours are better than distant relatives. In addition to explore the Hutong area in the rear Shishahai Lake area by old-fashioned rickshaw, you will also walk in Hutongs to drop in one or two traditional courtyard- style homes and have lunch with the local residence.

Tour Start from the north entrance to Beihai Park by old-fashioned pedicab to the picturesque Shishahai Lake area. Touring Gu Lou, the Drum Tower, where you can have a bird's eye view of the old city. Touring the neighbourhood in the rear Shishahai Lake area and walk in hutongs to drop in one or two courtyard- style homes and, have lunch with a family. Touring the mansion and garden of Prince Gong of the Qing Dynasty. Transfer to your hotel after the tour.

NOTE:
Rickshaw travel is an excellent way to experience old Beijing culture and the hutong (alleyways). To save time, locals sometimes hire rickshaws to navigate the narrow lanes. Travelers may get a fresh perspective of local life. Rickshaws are found around some communication centers and travel hotspots. Rickshaw rates are often higher than taxi rates especially during holidays1 for the busy traffic of automobile cars; bargain for an exact price prior to climbing aboard.
